Gin
Gin originated in Holland so of course, ours is named Meermin, the Dutch
word for mermaid. Like a cocoon transforming to a butterfly, gin begins
as vodka and then is distilled with our custom recipes of botanicals
including those most prevalent in our gardens. To further enhance this we produce Purple Reign lavender lemon gin and Berried Treasure cranberry Key Lime gin.
Whiskey
We produce four whiskeys including Barrel Ride our single malt whiskey, Bowsprit maple chai whiskey, HMS Bounty apple cinnamon whiskey, and Riptide our delicious brown sugar vanilla whiskey.
The common question is about the differences between whiskey, Scotch, bourbon and rye. The example given in research is likened to the idea that all squares (sub-categories of whiskey) are rectangles (whiskey) but not all rectangles (whiskies) are squares (sub-categories).
Further confusion is in the correct spelling. Whiskey
is spelled with an "e" in the United States and Ireland (countries with
"e" in their names) or without an "e" (whisky) in Scotland and Canada
(no "e" in the name of the liquor or the country).
The spirit type is whiskey. All Scotch, bourbon, and rye are whiskies:
-
Scotch is made in Scotland and must be 51% malted barley.
-
Bourbon is made in the USA and must be 51% corn.
-
Bourbon is mostly made in Kentucky (Jim Beam) and Tennessee (Jack Daniels).
- Tennessee bourbon must be sugar maple charcoal filtered.
-
Bourbon is mostly made in Kentucky (Jim Beam) and Tennessee (Jack Daniels).
-
Rye is made in the USA and Canada.
-
In the US it must be 51% rye (a specific grain).
- In Canada it may or may not include rye (can be a variety of grains).
-
In the US it must be 51% rye (a specific grain).
Vodka
This clear spirit originating in Russia and Poland was traditionally made from potatoes. In today's world it can me made from a variety of sugar sources. Ours is made from six-times distilled corn. Nayada, our signature vodka, is the translation of water nymph in Russian. We also make Bluegill huckleberry vodka, Rock Dance Meyer lemon vodka, Sea Star raspberry vanilla vodka, Sirena passionfruit orange guave vodka, Spanish Dancer chocolate espresso vodka, Tiger's Blood blood orange vodka, and Undine fruit cereal vodka.
Rum
It is the pirate's favorite spirit originating in Latin America. We make Yo Ho peach pineapple ginger rum, Mami Wata chocolate vanilla espresso rum, and Wahine Hi'u I'a macadamia coconut rum.
Cream Liqueur
Our decadent cream liqueurs are made from a rum base with dairy. They include Aphrodite root beer cream liqueur Ben Varrey I "wish" cream, Cecaelia vanilla brown sugar cream, Iara coffee cream, Jaioren coconut cream, Kaleidoscope pina colada cream liqueur, Melusine huckleberry cream liqueur, Morgans chocolate chip mint cream, and Suvannamaccha chai cream liqueur.
Agave Spirits
Made from agave syrup we make Tlanchana, key lime agave spirit, and Tangled Mess, a tangerine-tangelo agave spirit.
