New Releases Today at Westport Winery

Westport Winery is delighted to announce the release of a new vintage of Nirvana. This is the winery's first blend of Grenache, Syrah and Moudvedre, known as a GSM. The special combination is incredibly popular right now among wine enthusiasts. Director of Winemaking Dana Roberts said, "All three of these grapes were harvested at Joe Hattrup's vineyards in the Rattlesnake Hills AVA. Our family waited years to have the opportunity to work with Joe who owns both Sugarloaf and Elephant Mountain Vineyards. Based on the awards we are garnering we believe it was a well-founded decision."

There is more good news for fans of the winery's special raspberry chocolate wine, Red Sky at Night. General manager Carrie Roberts said, "We have been sold out of this label for several months. Just like with our other wines each new vintage differs in characteristics. This is probably my favorite Red Sky."

Last weekend the Roberts family also released their MV (motor vessel) wines named Argonaut, Endeavor and Nomad. These are reserve Cabernet Sauvignons from Conner-Lee, Elephant Mountain, and Discovery Vineyards, respectively. Known as barrel select, vineyard designates, the winery samples these exclusively in side-by-side tastings in three different versions.

What’s In A Name?

Our three new reserve wines are named MV for Motor Vessel. Each of the names after the MV are in honor of Blain Roberts’ boats from when he owned Lahaina Divers. The MV Argonaut was his first boat. MV Nomad was the third boat. And MV Endeavor was the boat he built at Westport Shipyard when he met Kim Irving, later to become his wife and business partner.
